 ab25 Macau Chief Executive  Sam Hou Fai  stated on Sunday that the government plans to push four major projects over the next 8 to 10 years to drive economic diversification and reduce Macau’s reliance on the gaming industry. The four major projects include the creation of a MOP12 billion ($1.5 billion) Integrated Cultural and Tourism Zone, which is planned to develop into a landmark cultural hub for the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. Public tenders are expected to open in the second half of this year, with construction anticipated to take two to three years. Total summation of the costs of the various endeavors, including the above, equates to around $4.75 billion. The  Macau International Airport  Expansion Project, with a budget of approximately MOP6 billion ($750 million), has already been approved by the central government and is in progress.  15/4/25 City to tap idle land for tourism and tech facilities: CE By   Tony Lai The government will make full use of the city’s abundant land reserves—totalling over 5 square kilometres—to develop an international integrated tourism and cultural zone, as well as a science and technology industrial park, Macau Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said. Responding to questions from lawmakers on Tuesday, Sam said the government will begin identifying potential sites for both projects in the second half of this year. Currently, Macau has around 3.5 square kilometres of reclaimed land, in addition to 85 idle plots and about 100 land plots repossessed from private developers due to non-development since 2009. “In total, Macau has around 5.5 square kilometres of available land, but only around 200,000 square metres have been put to use so far,” Sam told the Legislative Assembly.  27de abril 2025 O Governo está a planear lançar quatro projectos de obras “icónicas e importantes”, que serão concluídos em oito a dez anos, segundo prevê o Chefe do Executivo, Sam Hou Fai. Num evento exclusivo para determinados órgãos de comunicação social realizado ontem, o líder do Governo revelou que já iniciou a construção da Cidade Universitária de Educação Internacional de Macau e Hengqin, com um investimento estimado em 20 mil milhões de patacas.   Uma das prioridades da acção governativa do Governo para este ano é iniciar quatro projectos de obras “icónicas e importantes”. Sam Hou Fai, Chefe do Executivo, apresentou ontem o plano das obras de infra-estruturas e disse esperar que os projectos possam ser concluídos em oito a dez anos.
